On Sunday, December 6th, I performed at Club Nokia for an event celebrating hockey player Luc Robitaille’s induction to the Hall of Fame. A room full of celebrities, athletes, and fans turned out to support Luc and an organization close to him and his wife Stacia’s heart, Echoes of Hope.
Echoes of Hope is a charity founded by Stacia and Luc Robitaille which strives to awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of deserving at-risk and emancipated foster youth by providing the resources, knowledge, skills, love, and support they need to reach their full potential.

There were several special performances and appearances that evening which included musical act Sugar Ray, host Alan Thicke, actor Michael Rosenbaum, Andie Macdowell, Jesse Rae, dance group Contra Tiempo, and myself.
Immediately after I completed my painting of Luc it was auctioned off for $10,000 with the proceeds benefitting Echoes of Hope. The coolest thing was the person who generously won the auction was star of the hit show 24, Kiefer Sutherland. Is was even cooler to meet Mr. Sutherland afterwards who was very genuine in person. I will try to find video of the performance because it was way more of an experience than just a final painting.
There were so many amazing moments that evening we could not capture on camera.

“Hand In Hand” / acrylic on ping pong paddles mounted to masonite / 18″ x 24″ (total size)
Yes, ping pong paddles. That was the challenge and inspiration for my latest piece. Which has got to be the opposite of my recent project the Kings billboard.
I chose this medium to actually be a part of a bigger collective show that is the Ambiguous Paddle Show showing this weekend, December 12th and United State Boutique in Sacramento. I wanted to depict the relationship with my wife with the imagery and paddles. Unfortunately I will be attending another event in LA, but I recommend you don’t miss this event to see this original and the other works of art.
United State, a DJ/Clothing boutique in Sacramento’s midtown dedicated to preserving the style and culture of the local DJ’s and Emcees has teamed up with Ambiguous Clothing, a raw and edgy brand, to host Ambiguous’ traveling ping-pong paddle art show. This art show has toured the globe, showing the talent of local artists in Brooklyn, Barcelona, Las Vegas, and Paris. This event will be held at United State Boutique and will showcase 40-60 pieces. Art work from local artists, like, myself, Amanda Lopez and John Stuart Berger, as well as, pieces from previous showings will be available for a free public viewing from 6pm to 10pm. Following the show, United State Boutique will be hosting an exclusive invitation only after party sponsored by Miller Genuine Draft.
